About
The marketing
Most of my career has been spent in marketing arts and culture, working with people and organisations who create experiences that make us feel something, see the world differently or connect with each other in unexpected ways. From the beautiful Bristol Old Vic, to ten years with MAYK's Mayfest, from Trigger's epic The Hatchling to Radical Ritual's Consequences, I've been lucky enough to work alongside brilliant people making brilliant things happen.
I love theatre, art, culture and the moments that stay with you long after they've finished. The experiences that challenge us, move us, make us laugh, open our minds or remind us what it means to be human. I love the creativity, the collaboration and the sheer joy of bringing an idea to life and seeing what happens when people come together around it.
The running
Alongside this, there's running. I REALLY love running. It has given me confidence, friendships, adventures and the courage to dream about things I might once have thought were beyond me. It's taken me to start lines, finish lines, muddy trails and places I might never otherwise have discovered. It's introduced me to wonderful people, and there's something pretty special about standing alongside strangers at a start line, all with our own reasons for being there, united by a shared goal.
My love of running led me to train as a personal trainer. I wanted to understand the human body, how we get stronger and what we're capable of when we give ourselves the chance. I've since helped many women work towards their goals and achieve things they never thought possible.
But running is about so much more than the running. It's the people, the community, the volunteers, the shared goals and the friendships made along the way. It's the joy of discovering what you can do, and cheering other people on as they discover it too.
So?
The more I think about these two sides of my life, the more I realise they aren't so different after all. Creative marketing, art and culture, running and movement all have the power to bring people together, create meaningful experiences and make us feel more connected to the world around us.
I've tried to put these different parts of my life into separate boxes, turning them into businesses and projects under different names. But actually, it's all just me. It's what I do, what I love and what makes me tick.
So, this is Claire Petrie.
A creative marketing professional, runner, personal trainer, mum, and adventurer, bringing together the work I do and the things I love. A space for creative projects, running adventures, new ideas and whatever comes next.
